We are excited to share some great news from our spirits department. We will now be offering the highly sought after Loch & K(e)Y (“L&K”) Society barrel picks. This means that we'll get a small portion from each barrel pick selected by L&K. To give you some perspective, the L&K Society offered roughly 100 barrels last year!
The Loch & K(e)Y Society was one of the first barrel programs in the country, and we are honored to be part of this exclusive community. One of our spirits buyers, David Kreiss, has been an avid collector of L&K picks for over 15 years, with whiskeys such as Blanton’s, Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, Weller, Four Roses, Old Elk, Dark Arts, Knob Creek, Russell's Reserve, Pinhook, Peerless, Elijah Craig, Angel’s Envy, Tumblin’ Dice, Rare Character, Old Forester, Found North, Sagamore, Copper & Cask, Maker’s Mark, Compass Box, Kaiyo, Laphroaig, and the list goes on and on. Bottom line, the L&K Society gets access to some of the best barrels in the industry and Federal’s customers will now benefit from this association.
First is an Old Elk Single Barrel 10-year Wheated Bourbon bottled at Cask Strength (118.6 proof) called "Wheat Dreams”.
We are offering special pricing for a limited time. On top of that, one of the features of the Society is that we will open a bottle from nearly every barrel pick, so you can come in and try it before you buy it!
59.3% abv. 51% Corn, 45% wheat, 4% Barley.
Nose: High note of Sweetness of corn comes through. Confection sugar, graham crackers, some vanilla. Woodiness also comes through
Palate: More high note of sweetness, vanilla starts to form more prominent.
Finish: Kentucky Hug (the heat of alcohol as it moves through the throat and chest). No burn, but warmth. Vanilla starts to take shape. Adding a bit of water did not diminish the hug. Long finish.
