Wines We Loved

2005 Arnaldo Caprai Montefalco Rosso

Peter writes:
We have been waiting some time for the arrival of the 2005 Arnaldo Caprai Montefalco Rosso. I tasted this out of barrel last year and found it to be rich and well balanced. This week, we had a bottle with some pasta and mushrooms and it is even better. Arnaldo Caprai, now run by Marco Caprai, has very well situated, perfectly maintained vineyards in the rugged hills of Montefalco. The Montefalco Rosso is mostly Sangiovese with smaller amounts of Sagrantino and Merlot. It is young but ready to drink now and will age well for 10 or more years.

2005 Arnaldo Caprai Montefalco Rosso:

Deep ruby, light purple rim. Cherry, plum and spice aromas. Rich, soft cherry and strawberry notes with a hint of smoke and bold stucture from the Sagrentino. Long finish
